Who are you and what are you doing?

My name is Julia, I do the sport of luge, live in the beautiful Ore Mountains and train in Thuringia.

What does your typical daily routine look like?

I usually get up shortly before 7:00 a.m., do a little yoga session and prepare a delicious breakfast for myself. My training usually starts at 8:30 a.m. with a warm-up game - be it football, volleyball or basketball. Then it's off to the weight room, the toboggan or the trampoline. I have lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and then I train again until around 3:30 p.m. Then I go to physiotherapy, sled building or I am busy working on my further training as a sports manager.

In the evening you can either take advantage of the nice weather, play cards or watch a series in comfort.

What has been the best moment in your career so far?

When I realized that I had won the Sprint World Cup in 2021.

What is important to you in your diet?

I put a lot of emphasis on my diet. Mostly it is balanced, freshly prepared and diverse. I like to cook and I like to try new things. But I also like to let the little cravings and the sweet tooth come out of me. Everything in moderation, of course;)

What do you usually do in your free time?

I like to spend my free time with my family and friends. I am an outdoor person and I also need exercise on my days off. After a hard day of training, I like to spend the free time in a deck chair, in the sauna or with a book.

How has Corona influenced your everyday life as a competitive athlete?

In spring 2020 we had a longer training break due to Corona. We were not allowed to train at the base, so the training plan was adapted to training in your own four walls. But since around June 2020 we have hardly been restricted, at least in our everyday training. Of course, it was not nice to race without spectators in the competition season, not to meet colleagues from other countries, generally to live in a `` bubble '' and to wear a mask all the time - but hey, we could go through our competitions and I'm incredibly happy about that.
